With news of Jamie Carragher's retirement, the reds have moved quickly to confirm Kelly's contract extension
Liverpool have been in discussions with the 22 year old since the start of the season. Martin has been sidelined for most of the season after suffering an injury to his cruciates.
However the player and club have reached agreement on a long term deal, said to be 4 and half years.
Martin Kelly said:
"It means everything to me and my family. I've been at Liverpool since I was seven, so it's in my heart and I love the club..
"This shows the faith that the club have in me and that the hard work I have put in since I was young has paid off.
"Hopefully I'll put the injuries behind me. We have excellent medical staff here, who are going to work me and keep me on top of my injury. I'll be coming back even stronger."
Ian Ayre also spoke of his delight at the signing - saying that 'signing him for the long term is very important to us'.
Both Kelly, and Wisdom, have been utilised as right backs in the reds team - but both are more than capable of playing at centre-back. However, Liverpool will still be looking to bring in a centre-back this summer - with the departure of Jamie Carragher, the end of Danny Wilson's contract and the expected departure of Sebastian Coates in the offing.
