Liverpool have rewarded 19 year old Andre Wisdom with a long term contract at the club.
Andre joined Liverpool's academy at the age of 14 after arriving from Bradford City.
The player has featured a number of times this season, most notably to fill in for injuries to Jose Enrique, Glen Johnson and Martin Kelly at full back. He is also a strong centre-back and this flexibility, alongside some good performances this season, have convinced the reds hierachy that he could have a future at the club.
After the debacle of Tom Ince departing the club for next to nothing Liverpool have been attempting to ensure they reward those youngsters they believe will grow in to Premier League players by signing them up on contracts in to their mid twenties.
Speaking to the official site he said:
It's a great honour to sign a new contract at the club and I'm very happy.
It was an easy decision to make - as soon as they offered it to me, I grabbed the opportunity with both hands because it's a great club and I just want to continue to play for Liverpool.
I am so thankful to everybody at the club. I've had big help from the managers of the reserve and youth teams, such as the likes of Rodolfo [Borrell]. He's helped me in the reserve team so I have to give big credit to him. So yes, I have to give a lot of thanks to everyone.
Wisdom has played for England at all youth levels, even captaining the Under 19 side and he has made 14 appearances for Liverpool this season, grabbing a goal in the Europa League game away at Young Boys in Switzerland.
Congratulations to Andre - we wish him the best on his continued development and career at Liverpool Football Club.
He’s been the bedrock of the reserves for a couple of years and has adapted well in the Premier League and our European games. Seems to have bypassed Robinson/Flanagan and with Kelly also holding out for a big money contract it’s a good decision by the club to tie him down.
Good luck Norman!
