Despite last night’s defeat Benitez is looking ahead to the future and additions to his squad.
“Clearly now we have to start thinking about the future.
“We must improve and we will add quality to the squad.
“We have two more games in the Premier League to go and obviously we will try to win them both to give our season a good ending.
“But we will be looking at the squad and preparing for next season. You can see we are closer to the top but we still need three or four new players.
“We need to keep working, our scouting department is certainly doing that. We have two more games and will try to win them and then improve the squad for next season.”
Both Fernando Torres and Martin Skrtel today had scans to assess the injuries they picked up against Chelsea last night.
I for one cannot wait to see what the close season brings and for what we are undoubtedly going to experience and enjoy next year.
kisssssss
i love liverpool
pls sir RAFA help and bring “madrid’s higuin” to anfield next season.
Liverpool is making progress in the right direction.
I hope next season Liverpool will win their 19th Championship after 19 years in the year 2009.
At the end of the day when the pundits at the beginning of the season were saying that there were serious challengers for the coveted ‘forth spot’ Liverpool will likely end up as many points above 5th as we are below the top. Where are the Everton’s, Man City’s and Aston Villa’s now!! With only 4 defeats, 1 at home to undoubtedly the best team in the country (much as I hate to say it!!) we are only converting 5/6 draws into wins away from the much vaunted ‘serious Premiership challenge…’ And Sir Eck knows that!!
Having won two major trophies; domestically and European; to be significantly in the top four of the best and most difficult league in Europe if not the world, to be cemented as one of the top 5/6 teams and probably most feared in Europe is no mean achievement for 4 years work! Particularly when you consider the doldrums prior to this period (treble season apart!).
Progress has been made and will continue under the guidance of Rafa Benitez and I am sure the signings and youth introductions during the summer will support that.
I for one cannot wait to see what the close season brings and for what we are undoubtedly going to experience and enjoy next year.
HOw could Torres so quick recover frm injury??????????
Oldken, your comments are cr*p, clearly you havent noticed the progress that has happened since a few seasons ago where we were 30 or so points behind the PL champions, the gap is closing and had we won a few more games rather than draws in the earlier part of the season, the chase would have been tighter. Nuff said.
the future is bright , Lossing is bad but it is part of the game but lossing the way we did makes me proud…this team will make us all very happy very soon I just hope they stay together and hopefully the americans will learn how to behave very soon..any soccer lover who will like to interact with other fans and dicuss any soccer related issues should check out Soccer fan base dot com it is free to join.
Rafa at it again looking to the future he’s been doing this for 4 years and we are no further forward. He won the CL with Houliers players and nothing since with his own signings, dont tell me he won the FA cup when you think Cardiff could win it this season. He’s a megolamaniac and his forte is quantity ahead of quality. You’d need a double decker bus to ship out the deadwood with bottom deck filled with likes of Kuyt,Alonson Voronin Riise Pennant etc. Maybe Benitez could drive it?
Oldken
we could realy do with mancini or bentley and villa but with the way smaller clubs inflate there asking prices we dont want to be held to ransom and end up paying something like 18 million for a player who simply isnt worth it like united did,im sure rafa will bring in a few gems reletivly on the cheap as he has with skrtel and lucas, and voronin has to go hes an embaressment to this club and belongs in the championship
in rafa we trust
