Media rumours have intensified that Liverpool are set to bring in 20 year old Uruguayan defender Sebastian Coates in the coming days.
The 6ft 5in defender currently plays for Nacional of Uruguay.
According to reports the reds have had a deal that could rise to £8M accepted. Coates won the Young Player of the Tournament in this year’s Copa America, which Uruguay won, and it is expected that the presence of compatriot Luis Suarez at Anfield is key to his decision to join Liverpool.
Speaking to Ovacion in Uruguay he said:
“I’d prefer Liverpool to Manchester City, but would need to see both offer. But having the help of Luis Suarez would be very important.
“The Liverpool offer ticks all boxes, so fair to say it’s a done deal … Luis’s success is important for me as another Uruguayan joining.
“Liverpool is a club with great tradition and history. Suarez has spoken to Kenny Dalglish and the sporting directors about my signing.
