Robbie Fowler is back training with Liverpool FC, maintaining his fitness ahead of one more season with Perth Glory.
The Australian season has come to a close and with a further year pencilled in on his contract – Robbie asked the club if he could train with the reserve squad. The player is also spending some time with Bury in order to advance his coaching qualifications.
Pep Segura, now in charge of the reserves following the departure of John McMahon said:
“Kenny Dalglish spoke to Frank McParland and told him that Robbie was looking to keep up his fitness after returning from Australia.
“Frank was happy for him to come here and train with our reserve team and he has done very well.
“It is beneficial to Robbie because we can help him stay sharp. He is a professional and his behaviour on the pitch was fantastic. I think he has set a very good example to the younger players.
“Everybody responded well and it was a great moment for them to have the chance to train with a Liverpool legend. I tried to explain to the youngsters that they must watch how Robbie conducts himself throughout training. He was very focused and eager to do well.
“His attitude was great and he was the perfect example for our lads. He will train with us again and could be with us for the week that follows.”
Robbie turns 36 today, and as well as enjoying a brief return to Liverpool – the player will also no doubt be enjoying another of his pastimes – horse racing, with the Grand National being run in Aintree today.
hopefully he mite get a call from kenny,he cart be any worse then carrol at the mo….
Give him time
Carroll hasn’t been playing that poorly… we just haven’t given him any service AT ALL. Our midfield, especially on the wings, has been horrendous over the past few matches.
