Liverpool’s Paul Konchesky, currently on loan at Nottingham Forest, is set for a £1.5M return to Fulham in June.
The loan deal at Premiership-chasing Nottingham Forest expires on the 31st May, meaning that if Forest do qualify for the play-offs, Konchesky will be unavailable for their final push for the Premier League.
Konchesky cost the reds £3M plus two promising youngsters Lauri Dalla-Valle and Alex Kakaniklic, when Roy Hodgson brought him to Anfield.
Paul was almost immediately shipped out of the club following Kenny’s appointment and Damien Comolli is tasked with finding a replacement as one of his top summer priorities. Liverpool’s left back slot is arguably the weakest area in the team, with only one recognised left back at Melwood – the injury prone Fabio Aurelio. Newcastle’s Jose Enrique is considered the most likely target for Liverpool, having proven experience in the Premier League, and topping a fans poll at St James Park for last years Player of the Season, ahead of the £35M Andy Carroll.
Martin Kelly, Glen Johnson, Daniel Agger and Danny Wilson have all attempted to fill Aurelio’s injury filled void following Konchesky’s loan, but for each of them it is not their preferred position.
Liverpool will look upon the £1.5M sale as good business – given that Hodgson had handed the player, who turns 30 in May, a lucrative 4 year contract.
waste of money for a player that should have stayed at fulham in the first place, once again we buy and then sell on the cheap in stead of getting profit off a player, maybe when dalglish does take over things will change we will see ……
Blame Woy for bringing this joker and getting rid of 2 good prospects.
He is not the best full back i’ve seen , but as a forest fan this would cause problems for us in that position aswell , if we make the play offs (which is looking a bit dodgy at the moment).
Pls get our lauri dalla valle and kacaniklic back and sold him for whatever sum, those two are prodigy are part of the future
