Man United boss Alex Ferguson has set his sights on overhauling Liverpool’s record of 18 league titles before he quits as United boss.
As the clock ticks down to tomorrow’s big game the United boss, the longest serving Premiership manager, admitted that catching Liverpool’s record is a key aim in his managerial career.
Ferguson said:
“We have won the FA Cup more times than anyone so you get a certain pride in that and it’s the same for Liverpool,” the 65-year-old Ferguson told reporters.
“They have won the title more times than anyone and they’ll be proud of that. The chase will always be on to be number one in your country.
“For us there is an expectation and for Liverpool there is an expectation and I hope before I leave we can get to that position.”
Despite his longevity in the job at United, Ferguson has only taken United to the European Cup final once in his reign whilst his counterpart Rafa Benitez has got Liverpool to the European Cup final twice in his three full seasons in charge.
In response to this Ferguson said:
“Winning the league is without question the barometer of our game.”
Keep the mancs off our website, ferguson is the enemy. YNWA.
respect for “sir alex” !
is this the same man who needs extended injury time so his team can win anything (european cup final 99)! the one trophy we we at ease
Only a Manc would be sad enough to go on another teams website and try and be clever.
Who’s the gimp with the Sir Alex comment? get a life or even better still stay off a liverpool website with that attitude
What a joke, AF thinks winning the league is the barometer because he cant do it on the European stage, I am sure he is jealous of what Rafa has achieved in Europe
Cheers
