Liverpool have today officially confirmed the squad that will be used in the UEFA Champions League group stages.
Despite still being on the treatment table, Aquilani, Agger and Aurelio are all included in a sign that Benitez expects all three players to be available for the reds for some of the games which start against Debrecen at home later this month.
The full 28-man squad is:
Goalkeepers
Diego Cavalieri, Pepe Reina, David Martin.
Defenders
Glen Johnson, Daniel Agger, Fabio Aurelio, Sotirios Kyrgiakos, Emiliano Insua, Jamie Carragher, Stephen Darby, Martin Kelly, Martin Skrtel, Andrea Dossena.
Midfielders
Alberto Aquilani, Steven Gerrard, Yossi Benayoun, Javier Mascherano, Lucas Leiva, Jay Spearing, Damien Plessis.
Forwards
Fernando Torres, Andriy Voronin, Albert Riera, Dirk Kuyt, Ryan Babel, David Ngog, David Amoo, Nathan Eccleston.
weird how riera is considered a forward
we’re really lacking in that department arent we
thought that about babel too you’re right
babel is named as a forward but is played as a midfielder
nonsense
hopefully we can qualify with games to spare and give the young lads a go.
Actually its a squad of 28 not 25.
Excellent shout. Can I use ‘hungover’ to explain my inability to count?
Yes, of course. I use ‘hungover’ to cover far worse sins than mathematical errors.
Good to see eccleston in the squad, been impressive for the reserves so far this season.
