Michael Owen says Liverpool can win the Premiership before his current contract runs out in two years time.
Owen has his eyes firmly fixed on helping the Reds qualify for the Champions League with victory at Chelsea today, but he admits he is desperate for bigger prizes in the near future.
He said:
“I think we can win the league in the next year or couple of years. I am 23 now so it is going to have to be in the next couple of years.
“I will still be here next season because I still have two years left on my contract – unless the boss has got other plans. I’m happy and all the normal spiel which goes along with that.
“If we don’t get in the Champions League, I think it would have been a disappointing season.
“If I go through every season of my career and pick up a trophy, I would probably settle for that, no matter which one. Even so I would prefer something of a higher profile.”
