Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has been called into the England squad for their next two home games, the Football Association said on Thursday.
England play South Africa in a friendly in Durban later on Thursday. Carragher will join the rest of the squad on Sunday to prepare for the June 3 friendly against Serbia and Montenegro and the June 11 Euro 2004 qualifier against Slovakia.
Carragher, 25, can play at full back or in the centre of defence.
He has eight caps, most as a substitute, but has not played an international since a friendly against Paraguay in April 2002.
