Further to our story yesterday, Luis Garcia has today completed his move to Atletico Madrid.
Transfer figures of around £3 million have been quoted in the Spanish press. The deal has been conducted independently of the Fernando Torres transfer which is expected to be completed later. Torres is undergoing a medical with Liverpool. The player had returned to Spain, believed to have been recording a message for the Atletico faithful who worship the number 9.
Garcia has been out of action for nearly all of 2007 after tearing his cruciate knee ligament in our 6-3 defeat against Arsenal in the League Cup.
The player made 121 appearances for Liverpool - netting 30 times. His most memorable 'goal' of them all was the strike which sent Liverpool in to the European Cup final in Istanbul.
The player got married on the 1st July, and we at Anfield Online wish Luis all the best at Madrid and in his international career and thanks for the memories.
What a pity to see Luis go.
great player on his day great the way he finished roy keane carrer at manure special goal against juve
i dont want luis to go but i wish him all the best for him
Quality in the final third gave you that little bit of magic to unlock a tight game. Good luck Luis.
Good Bye Luis, you will always be remembered for ‘that’ goal but there were many special goals you should be remembered for, Juve/Chelsea (FA Cup)/ for example you were part of a great new chapter in our special history and because of that i’ll always be grateful for what you’ve done for us.
Goodluck to you and your family
Thank you
what a great player sad to see him go
good luck m8
Good Luck Garcia !!!! scored some important goals for liverpool but wasnt the best player for the physical side of the premiership
He could be an infuriating player to watch at times, but he gave us something different, and was a player who could surprise the opposition. Not something that could be said of the rest of the forward line, or indeed the rest of the team. 🙁 😉
People will go on about that ‘goal’ against Chel$ki, but the goal against Juventus was glorious, and one of the best ever at Anfield.
That video shows some of the great goals he scored for us.
So long Luis, and thanks for the memories. 🙂
Thank you Luis.
I will always cherish his Juventus and Chelsea goals and will miss singing his song.
His goals were important on the road to Istanbul.
Best of luck Luis
Shame to see Luis go, he scored a lot of important goals for us & was a rare bit of spark we so lacked on many occasions!!
Lets hope Torres can more than fill his boots!!
Scorer of very very important goals. Always offered something different. And yes – I will miss him. Played with a smile & always tried his best!
