With all the exciting transfers at Anfield over the past few weeks..(!). the crowning of the website player of the year was almost forgotten.
After two consecutive years of Steven Gerrard receiving the coveted title, the superlative Jamie Carragher is the Anfield Online Liverpool Player of 2006/07.
Jamie was the clear winner with nearly half of all votes polled in the vote on the website and forum. Jamie ended up with 49.3% of the votes. Over 1200 fans took part in the vote.
Nobody needs reminding of his immense contributions to the side, not just over the past 12 months, but for a number of years and the vice-captain has become part of a solid defensive unit.
Here are some comments from the forum on our very own Bootle gem.
He is an example for any players coming in and a inspiration for any players already with us. Good old Jamie.
Agger had a great season but it’s JC who taught him about positional play, where to be, when to be there so not only has JC done his job fantastically but he’s also nurtured Agger into the player we are seeing now and love so much…. Well done JC, you’ve done us proud again.
Got to be Jamie Carragher for me ,has been outstanding this season, masters the back four and know what is expected of everyone in front of him and as a go at them if anyone doesn’t do their job 10/10
I’ve gone for Carragher. Been so reliable as always. Commanded the back like a captain and has adjusted really well with partnering Agger more than Hyypia this season.
Carra gets my vote he gets better every season
he definetly diservs this award cause the rest of the players havnt been playin there best this season.
We all dream a team of Carraghers…
a team of Carraghers…
a team of Carraghers…
Agger was by far the player of the season. The predisposition towards scousers is laughable.
Carra and Finnan all the way!
Carra and Finnan – that was my choice this season. But Jamie was outstanding for years and I hope will be even more exciting. He is already one of the great. True liverpudlian.
