It's the curtain raiser to the English Premier League season today at Wembley.
Man City, who won the Premier League, League Cup and FA Cup face down the European Champions Liverpool.
The reds have endured a fairly stuttering pre-season - not helped by the absence of the entire forward line and goalkeeper due to Copa America and African Cup of Nations summer action.
Salah, Alisson and Firmino returned from holiday just this week whilst Naby Keita and Xherdan Shaqiri have only just staged their return from injuries. Sadio Mane is also missing as he enjoys the last day of a very truncated summer break.
Continuing the pre-season vibe a total of six substitutes are allowed to be used in today's fixture and if the scores are level at 90 minutes we go straight to penalties.
Following today's game the reds will begin preparations for the Premier League's first fixture at Anfield on Friday against Norwich City.
As it happened...
"For me, it has nothing to do with the rest of the season.
"If we win it, good. If we lose it, not good. Will it have an influence on the season? I don't think so. We have to prove ourselves during the season, not in one game.
"It's a final. This is the first time that I realised nobody sees it like that to be honest. In Germany I won it five times, but nobody mentions it."
James Milner ruled out for today's game as a precaution.

A reminder of today's two starting teams
A serious expression from Guardiola, broken by a cheeky wink. Him an Klopp share a handshake and the teams enter the field
Mike Summerbee and Ray Clemence amongst the party being introduced to the players on the Wembley pitch.
Underway at Wembley
4' Joe Gomez has the ball snatched off him by Raheem Sterling - ball falls to Leroy Mane who drills into the side netting.
Divock Origi doing a lot of the grunt work in these opening minutes - getting back and providing cover for Andy Robertson at left back.
Man City happy to knock it around at the back.
6' Good work by Bobby Firmino with a wonderful take down, spin and then a shot - but its straight at Bravo.
8' First corner of the game for Man City but Kevin de Bruyne sends it over everyones heads and its out for a throw in.
8' Origi controls the ball to Firmino - he sends a great ball through to Salah who then sticks it wide.
Should have worked the keeper.
10' Leroy Sane and Alexander-Arnold having a bit of a race down the wing and Sane looks like he fell over a bit awkward.
12' Man City take the lead through Sterling.
Long delay there for Sane and then from a cross into the back of the box City manage to lump it back in and Sterling is 6 yards out to put it in.
13' Gabriel Jesus is on to replace Leroy Sane.
16' Mo Salah burns away from Zinchenko who tries to foul him. But the angle is tightening and Salah's shot hits the side netting.
17' City's long ball from Claudio Bravo once again finds a man and they've got another chance inside the area.
Alisson beats that shot away but the reds are not defending very well at all here.
City look a lot fitter and sharper.
21' A good spell of the ball for Liverpool but it's all in the middle of the pitch.
City look to have more threat when they get the ball.
24' Andy Robertson causes havoc in the City defence and the ball squirms through but it's just inches closer to Claudio Bravo than to the onrushing Mo Salah.
The City keeper gets hold of that one to avert the danger.
29' Another wasted chance there for Mo Salah. He's got time there at the corner of the 6 yard box. He fires it over the bar.
31' Salah turns Sterling inside out and the former Liverpool player is straight back up to foul Firmino.
Fabinho with a long diagonal pass forward but he's overhit that. Rusty.
39' Trent Alexander-Arnold hits an overhit corner just as de Bruyne did earlier for City. At least this one goes out for a goal kick rather than a throw in.
Pace of the game has really slowed down now.
City have been constantly working to expose LFC's offside trap and Kevin de Bruyne only just offside that time around.
41' Joe Gomez and David Silva both go with their feet up for the ball. Joe Gomez wins that round.
Guardiola fuming but that could have easily been the other way around. Players enjoying a little drinks break now, four minutes before half time.
Guardiola given a yellow card for his carrying on on the touchline.
Liverpool 0-1 City
Sterling scores from 6 yards after a bit of a switch off at right back from the reds. Game played in a relatively benign fashion but Mo Salah arguably should have grabbed himself a hat-trick.
Each team can make up to six subs in this game so there could be even less flow to the second half.
No changes at half time
51' Both teams attacking the ends which house their own supporters in this second half. Most of the Liverpool subs now on the touchline warming up ahead of expected changes.
Good period of possession for the reds in this second half.
53' Head tennis in the City penalty area but Zinchenko eventually heads it back to Claudio Bravo.
57' Corner for the reds - van Dijk with the shot that touches the underside of the bar. Didn't go over the line.
There was a lot of that ball over the line, but not for the first time v City - not all of the ball!
58' Mo Salah hits the post.
It's going to be one of those days isn't it!
60' Gundogan on for David Silva. City's second sub.
62' Kyle Walker clatters Divock Origi to the ground, doesn't put the ball out and fires it forward to Sterling.
Sterling has a one on one with the keeper and then bizzarely forgets to shoot! Comical.
67' Naby Keita and Joel Matip on for Trent Alexander-Arnold and Fabinho.
73' de Bruyne with a shot inside the box. Alisson a bit unsighted but he manages to get low and keep hold of that.
77' Henderson free kick, headed back in by van Dijk and JOEL MATIP scores the equaliser.
79' Firmino, Henderson and Origi off. Lallana, Shaqiri and Oxlade-Chamberlain on.
83' Crucial save by Claudio Bravo from Naby Keita.
Liverpool have been the better side in this second half and are ending strongly.
86' Salah shoots from the edge of the box, deflection off Zinchenko and just on to the top of the net.
89' Foden on for de Bruyne. Klopp and Guardiola having a 'conversation' which Jordan Henderson joins in. Probably related to City time-wasting.
Four minutes of it ahead.
90+3' Salah flick is slid into by John Stones. Salah heads the rebound over the keeper but Kyle Walker clears it off the line with a lunge.
Liverpool 1-1 City
It heads straight to the lottery of penalties.
Will be taken in front of the Liverpool supporters.
