The reds suffered a 90th minute defeat to Spanish side Sevilla at the home of the Boston Red Sox in a match that can barely be described as friendly.
There were a number of hefty and unnecessary champions from the Spaniards, culminating in a red card for Joris Gnagnon after a wild kick at the 18 year old Yasser Larouci, Liverpool's promising left back. He was stretchered off in the final stages of the game before final substitute Pozo nabbed a late winner.
The temperature was well in their 30s as the American heatwave continued, and this was Liverpool's second game since landing in the states in 46 hours but away from the scoreline and the bruises, this was another step on the way to gaining pre-season fitness.
It was also the reds first appearance in their newly released third kit.
Alexander-Arnold, Van Dijk and Robertson all made their first starts of pre-season - playing in the first half of this fixture before a more junior defence played in the second half.
Sevilla's attitute to the game caught LFC unaware and they started the brighter of the two teams - Ever Banega throwing more than his weight around.
It was always going to happen. Sevilla’s Joris Gnagnon, who came on second half, is given a RED CARD in this friendly for a nasty challenge on Liverpool’s Yasser Larouci.
Doubt LFC will be playing Sevilla in a friendly for a while.

Sevilla's opening goal - in the 39th minute - had a little bit of fortune. A cross from the corner of the area hitting Nat Phillips, taking the sting out of the ball, and flatfooting the reds defence. To be fair, Nolito's strike was a good one in to the top corner - a first goal conceded by Andy Lonergan who was a surprise goalkeeping choice for the reds.
Just before half time the reds equalised. And in scenes familiar to LFC fans, it was Alexander-Arnold with the corner and Divock Origi who bundled in the strike.
A challenge towards the end of the first half left Klopp furious and he went to speak to the Sevilla coaching team at half team.
It didn't do any good. The teams changed fully at half time but the attitude didn't.
Mid way through the half Yasser Larouci was moving at speed with the ball, rode one challenge, and then Frenchman Joris Gnagnon scythed him down with no intention to play the ball. The stretcher was sent on and Gnagnon was sent off.
Fury on the Liverpool bench and amongst the overwhelmingly partisan Liverpool support inside this baseball stadium.
With Liverpool looking for a late winner against the ten men of Sevilla, it was Pozo who managed to latch on to a pass from El Haddidi and round Mignolet for the 90th minute winner.
Fortunately, in the immediate aftermath, Jurgen Klopp suggested that the Larouci injury may not be as serious as first feared - although it will require monitoring over the next few days.
After a hectic start since landing in America, the reds do now have a couple of days to get themselves together before they travel to the home of the New York Yankees for the last game of this tour when they face Portugal's Sporting.
