Liverpool have seen off Roma to reach the 2018 Champions League final where they will face Real Madrid.

AS Roma ran out 4-2 winners on the night with two goals in the final five minutes but it wasn't enough to overcome Liverpool's 3 goal advantage set in the first leg in a dominant Anfield performance.

Sadio Mane was welcomed back to the side for the night in the Italian capital and he broke the deadlock early in the game.

Roma hadn't conceded a goal all season at home in the Champions League.  In the 9th minute, Mane collecting a Firmino pass, stuck it in the back of the net.

Roma were handed a lifeline just minutes later when Lovren clearance hit the side of James Milner's head in the Liverpool area and bounced into the net.  An own goal.

Finally, he scores away from home

But Liverpool would grab another goal before the half was out.

Gini Wijnaldum hasn't scored an away goal for a club in 3 years.  Tonight was the perfect time.  From a reds corner, Dzeko could only head it backwards and Wijnaldum was there to get the deftest of headed touches to put it past the Roma keeper.  2-1 up and Roma's away goal advantage wiped out.

Edin Dzeko levelled the scores seven minutes into the second half.  The home club then embarked on a spell of sustained pressure for a good 10 minutes that Liverpool eventually saw out.

As it happened: Roma 4-2 LFC (6-7)

Liverpool had a couple of chances at the other end but Mo Salah wasn't having his best of nights and the majority of the work was coming via Firmino and Mane.

With five minutes to go and Liverpool heavily defending Nainggolan had space at the edge of the box to smash a shot in off the post.

And in the 93rd minute, the referee harshly gave a penalty against Ragnar Klavan for handball.  It was 100 times less a penalty than the one the reds didn't get against Stoke at the weekend but Nainggolan smashed in the spot kick.

However, that was the final action of the game and the reds reach their 8th European Cup final, in 10 semi-final attempts and in 22 seasons of competing in the European Cup.

Can the reds make it 6 trophies or will 12 time champions Real Madrid add to their tally.

Either way - Liverpool are going to Kiev on the 26th May for a chance of the biggest prize in club football.
