Jordan Henderson has joined a growing list of England internationals to withdraw ahead of the 2 international friendlies.
Domestic football has been put on hold for a fortnight due to the internationals. Some sides are taking part in World Cup qualifiers but England play two friendly matches against Germany and Brazil.
Henderson missed Liverpool's win at the weekend over West Ham because of a thigh problem and he hasn't shaken it off in time to be considered for England selection.
He joins the likes of Man City's Fabian Delph and Raheem Sterling, and the Spurs trio of Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Harry Winks to withdraw from the squad.
It leaves Joe Gomez as Liverpool's only representative in this particular England squad - his first ever senior call-up - after Southgate didn't include either Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain or Daniel Sturridge.
Those two England players have collected a combined 3 goals for the reds - one each in our last 3 games.
England play Germany on Friday evening, and then Brazil on Tuesday evening - with both matches being played at Wembley.
Meanwhile Philippe Coutinho, who has missed Liverpool's 3 matches, has joined up with the Brazil national squad and could be involved in their Wembley clash next week.
Less players being risked on international duty is all good for me. What are they going to learn from southgate anyways? Him, Ox, Lallana and Milner all being at Melwood is the best place for them to be.
