Jurgen Klopp admitted the reds were a bit rusty in the first half at Anfield before punishing Huddersfield in the second half of today's 3-0 victory.
“The first half was a little bit stiff, that was clear.
"We didn't want to give them any opportunity for a counter-attack but it was not too difficult to fix it at half-time to create more.
"It was immediately a lot clearer. We were more direct and now it is a nice day!
“I’m really happy for the boys."
The breakthrough came in the 49th minute when Daniel Sturridge took advantage of Alberto Moreno's diverted cross deep into the area to lift the ball over the Huddersfield keeper who had saved a Mo Salah penalty just minutes earlier.
After a Roberto Firmino header for the second, up stepped Gini Wijnaldum with another of those home goals - he smashed in a shot to the roof of the net to ensure that not even Liverpool's defence could throw the points away today.
Speaking after the game Wijnaldum highlighted Liverpool's patience:
"The manager told us not to get frustrated because they were dropping really deep.
"If we keep playing football, they can not cover the spaces all the time.
"Every win is a big win for us and it was important because we had to give a reaction from the match last week. I think we did well."
The win moves Liverpool up to 6th in the Premier League table.
