Liverpool added their 7th and 8th goals of pre-season in yesterday's friendly win at Wigan Athletic.
A third consecutive clean sheet was also welcomed for new Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius.
Phil Coutinho marked his return to action whilst Marko Grujic was left at home - not an injury just illness for the midfielder who impressed so much in the last game.
The first half was frustrating - within 4 minutes Coutinho had found the woodwork and he did it again a short while later. He seemed to settle quickly into the partnership with Firmino and new signing Sadio Mane.
Ovie Ejaria continued to impress alongside these senior players. A fine chip from Mane into Ejaria almost saw the youngster help himself to a goal but the angle was tight and the keeper was on hand to deny him.
Coutinho, despite finding the woodwork, looked bright on his return and reds fans will be hoping he will be an important player in the season ahead - continuing his development of recent years and possibly increasing his goal return.
Second half
There were 8 changes at half time - and it was two of these Danny Ings and youngster Ben Woodburn who grabbed the Liverpool goals in a two minute spell in the middle of the half.
Lazar Markovic flicked a fine cross into the path of Danny Ings who fired home. Ings had already had a number of chances that had gone narrowly wide.
Moment later Ryan Kent fed a ball onto the onrushing 16 year old Woodburn, who calmly dispatched the ball past the Wigan keeper. The player hopefully has a very bright future and one hopefully with Liverpool.
He played a cross field pass moments later to Ings - and it probably should have resulted in Liverpool's third.
The only dampener on proceedings was a minor injury sustained by Joel Matip - one of only two outfield players asked to play in both halves.
The reds move on to a clash against Huddersfield Town on Wednesday evening - before they head on to America for the next stage of their pre-season tour.
