Daniel Agger speaking to Onside, a Danish TV programme, says that differences between him and Brendan Rodgers that led to his £3M departure to Brondby.
With Liverpool's central defence a shambles, with Lovren and Sakho worth both currently in question, the reds let Agger return to his former club towards the end of the transfer window.
Speaking to the media outlet Agger said:
"Let me put it this way: me and the manager were perhaps not on the same page for all of last season. For most of last season at least.
"There was some distance between us and for me that was enough. I didn’t feel that he appreciated the things I contributed. And when I feel that, then it is time to move on.
"Maybe where it went wrong between me and him is that I am very direct. I say things as they are, and also expect that people are [the same] to me. Maybe it’s wrong to expect that.
Daniel Agger is not the first senior Liverpool player with a strong personality to be moved on. Pepe Reina was shipped out after a season in a loan deal he hadn't been fully informed of before being sold to Bayern Munich. His replacement £10M Simon Mignolet has hardly set the world on fire with a series of inconsistent performances.
Rodgers, 41, has assembled a young side at the club - Steven Gerrard being the only regular starter now within 10 years age of the manager.
