Stewart Downing faces the Liverpool chop after a disappointing two seasons at the club.
The winger, who will turn 29 later this month, has not lived up to his expensive transfer fee and salary - having arrived from Aston Villa in the summer of 2011 for a fee of around £18M.
The player has two years left on his contract and it is unlikely Liverpool would want to offer the player an extension.
West Ham are said to be one club interested in the player, and The Guardian goes on to suggest that Liverpool will be prepared for the player to leave for a fee of around £8M.
Well if we got him for 18 mil we got to sell him nothing less than 12-14 mil got to try and get something back if we r going to be a selling club wiv high priced players we paid for last summer we got to get something back
If this is true and I hope it is, there will be more funds available to buy another striker.
